  Description:
Since the first public release in 2001, there have been well over 100,000 downloads of the Open Source Cluster Application Resources (OSCAR) software stack. OSCAR is a self-extracting cluster configuration, installation, maintenance, and operation suite consisting of Ïbest known practicesÓ for cluster computing. In the past year we have seen an expansion of the OSCAR effort in the directions of diskless clusters (Thin OSCAR) and high-availability cluster computing (HA-OSCAR). Furthermore, this past May, over 100 attendees gathered in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada at the 1st international OSCAR symposium. With the continued growth of the OSCAR community, this meeting will be a focal point for the OSCAR community where both developers and users may gather to discuss the current state as well as future directions for the OSCAR software stack.
