  Description:
Public relations, marketing, communications, and public information staff of high performance computing and networking organizations are encouraged to meet at this interactive lunch to trade stories and tips. This BoF is for beginning and experienced PR professionals from supercomputing centers, government labs, and industry.

Promoting HPC and networking sometimes requires information and techniques (and patience) not usually found in general marketing how-to manuals or conferences. Success stories and common pitfalls with both be discussed.

Some topics for discussion are: Navigating the Acronym Alphabet Jungle, Pitching High Tech to a Non-Tech Savvy Press, Media Training for the (Almost) Untrainable, and What is Supercomputing Anyway?

Since interactions between industry marketing and public relations staff at HPC centers are common, we would like to spend some time addressing techniques for working together effectively.

One of this BoF's primary purposes is to start collecting information for a working listserv so that public relations professionals can continue to exchange information the conference.
